Edmund Benson of Grates Cove Selling his Land in Carbonear in 1835

It is known that the Benson family of Grates Cove are descendants of Thomas Benson of Carbonear, and perhaps Thomas' brother William. This land record is direct evidence of connecting the two families together. It is likely that the Joseph Benson mentioned in this deed is brother to Edmund, and also moved to Grates Cove at some point. Note that there is a Thomas Benson mentioned in other court documents dating to 1800 which are also posted on this site. So it may very well be that Thomas, the patriarch, also moved to Grates Cove and died there.
