Beyond Baccalieu Restaurant and Gift Shop, Grates Cove, Newfoundland

We are re-opening in late June 2009, and look forward to seeing everyone again. Please note that we will be closed on Mondays; we're so busy we have to have a rest sometime! We will be featuring a new, simpler cafe-style menu next year, so come by to see our changes!

Our cafe features home-cooked, traditional Newfoundland cuisine, as well as more typical "Mainlander" fare.

While a cup o' tea is the hot drink of choice for Newfoundlanders, for those urban Mainlanders who might be missing their "Starbucks caffeine fix", we serve coffee, espresso, cappuccino and lattes, and of course, home-made desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Our most unique and popular feature is our spectacular deck overlooking the harbour. You can watch the fishermen landing their catch at the wharf below, or watch the whales, icebergs and seabirds from our bird's eye view. We guarantee you won't find a restaurant with a more inviting deck with fabulous views anywhere else on the Baccalieu Trail! We also have a liquor license (beer and wine), so you can enjoy "a cold one" with your meal.

And starting in 2009, we will have occasional musical events, so keep an eye on our News Page.

Afterward, stop in our Gift Shop to see our hand-crafted, quality souvenirs made locally for that unique gift as a memento of your vacation to Newfoundland & Labrador. If you want a souvenir that's different than the usual stuff you come across in other shops, you will definitely find something you like at Beyond Baccalieu. You should also stop to see Vicky Martin, at Vic's Rocks 'N Things. Most of her artwork is made from things found in nature, and crafted into truly unusual and amusing pieces of art. Her things are truly "one of a kind". Vicky is also an exceptional photographer, and has lots of wonderful prints and photos for sale.
