Facts about the Razorbill (Alca torda)

Its local name is "tinker". The Razorbill is closely related to the murres, and are similar to them in appearance and behaviour, although its body is more streamlined in flight with a distinctive pointed tail.

Its black, deep, auk-like bill is highlighted with a vertical white strip, the feature which makes it most distinctive. Also note the white line edging its wing, which looks diagonal across its back when the wing is folded at rest.
